NRC has been serving Native Americans for nearly 25 years. We offer the widest scope of critically needed services to the reservations and serve Native Americans with the highest need in the U.S. NRC has a vision of strong, self-sufficient Native American communities. Our mission is: Serving immediate needs. Supporting long-term solutions. NRC strives to be a consistent resource for Indian country and to provide the right goods at the right time and in the right way. We have a strong network of over 1,000 partnerships with reservation programs. NRC works through these partners to bring much-needed relief to 250,000 Native Americans who live in their reservation communities. The most important thing NRC provides for the reservations is hope. NRC is unique in several ways — especially as an intermediary to other organizations interested in aiding or working with Indian country.
NRC’s approach brings several other important benefits to those who work with us. The fact that our Program Partners are Native Americans who live and work on the reservations gives us added insights on how to work effectively on the reservations. Their success stories reflect their dedication. These partnerships also helped us evolve "The NRC Way" and our guiding principles of stewardship, volunteerism, and respect.
More a Partnership Than a Charity Our service area is concentrated in nine priority states that encompass Pine Ridge, Rosebud, Navajo and more than 60 other reservations with a high need for basic necessities. To make a difference in such a wide service area, NRC relies on the generosity of concerned Americans as well as businesses that are able to make grants or donate goods in bulk. We also serve as a bridge between reservation partners and other organizations. Typically, product donations take the form of basic necessities, which are much needed in our remote communities. NRC covers any cost of shipping the goods from wherever they are to our distribution center in South Dakota or Arizona. Monetary donations help us purchase similar goods at volume discounts and transport the goods to the reservations.
Both monetary and product donations increase the quality and quantity of goods that NRC provides and support a greater impact on quality of life for the Native Americans we serve. NRC delivers the donated and purchased goods to our reservation Program Partners, who distribute the goods in their communities. Everyone has a role to fill. This is why we say: “NRC is more a partnership than a charity.” NRC counts on you or your organization for this kind of support to meet our mission and remember Native Americans.
